About me
Hi, I’m Joana Garcia e Costa, a Portuguese ceramic artist and artisan born in 1998. Since 2022, I’ve been working alongside the talented Amande Haeghen, an experience that has allowed me to grow and refine my craft.
My passion for ceramics began at the Fine Arts University of Lisbon, where I studied sculpture. It was there that I fell in love with the medium, which led me to pursue a Master's degree in Art and Science of Ceramic and Glass at FCT Nova University.
In my work, I combine technical skill with creativity, developing unique pieces both collaboratively and independently in the studio. I draw inspiration from the fascinating structures found in nature, such as, tree roots, the delicate networks of fungi mycelium, intricate cellular patterns, honeycombs, geological formations, to name a few.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know a bit about me. I invite you to explore my website, where you can discover more about my work and the stories behind the pieces I create.
